Lee Donald Rouse, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away early on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, in Cabot, PA at the age of 81 after a short battle with cancer. Lee was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and lived in Millvale during his formative years. He graduated from Millvale High School in 1955, where he was a three season varsity athlete for all four years, and one of the most valuable players in the Allegheny Valley Football Conference. Lee earned his B.S. degree in education from Clarion University in 1960. He also was a 4-year starter for the Clarion football team at the left-tackle positon. Lee played one season for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (Canadian Professional Football League) in 1960, allowing him one last chance to play the game he loved. Lee taught civics/geography and coached football at Avalon High School from 1960 to 1962. In 1962, he married Phyllis Ann Fenrich and they raised two children, Jason and Kirsten. Lee held sales positions with the Armour Agricultural Chemical Company, International Paper Company, and Stone Container Corporation from 1963 to 1973. Lee took a national sales position with Steel City Corporation in 1973, and relocated his family to Youngstown, OH in 1974. Lee was promoted into positions of greater responsibility over 26 years, retiring as a national sales manager, vice-president, and part-owner. Lee’s wife, Phyllis, was struck by a rare cancer in 1991, and Lee remarried Karen Wagner Ham in 1996. Lee and Karen returned to the Pittsburgh area in 1999 for their retirement. Lee was a hardworking, compassionate man, who lived life to the fullest and was happiest surrounded by family and friends. His passions included Steelers football, worldwide travel (he visited 87 countries plus all 50 states), Weimaraner dogs, yard work, Millvale class reunions, annual Ocean City, NJ family vacations, and the Masonic Lodge (50 year member of the Corinthian Blue Lodge #573). Lee will be sorely missed by his wife, children, and extended family, as well as by those who knew him as a classmate, friend and/or colleague.
